Seventh Winner Of American Idol Announced!

David Cook has won this year’s American Idol, after winning a majority of the 97 million phone votes in his final against David Archuleta.

The two-hour show was full to the rim with performances from the Top 12 contestants, as well as all-star sing-songs by Carrie Underwood, Donna Summer, ZZ Top, and the Jonas Brothers.

Both finalists performed songs by George Michael, with the music legend himself present at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre to treat audiences to a rendition of Praying For Time.

Speaking to the crowd after finding out he’d won, the 25-year old bartender gushed: “I started this season, much to Simon (Cowell)’s chagrin, as the word nerd and I’m absolutely at a loss for words. Thank you guys. This is amazing. Thank you.”

Cook has become the seventh winner of American Idol.
