The husband of pregnant actress Natascha McElhone has died at the age of 42.

Leading cosmetic surgeon Martin Kelly was found slumped on the doorstep of the couple's London home last night by a colleague.

It is thought he suffered a heart attack.

McElhone - who is expecting the couple's third child - was abroad filming but is believed to be flying back to Britain.

Her stepfather, Roy Greenslade, said of the tragic death, "It's still a mystery about the death. It's so unexpected. Such a fit, handsome, fighting fit young man of 42.

"So we are in a bit of a terrible state to be honest.

"I obviously will be in touch with Martin's closest medical colleagues who were dealing with the crisis and will try and find out what's going on.

"It's just completely baffling. A medical colleague was on hand, so he had the best possible chance but was just unable to revive him.

"There was no indication, not in the least. He was a great rider, a great skier, and he was just a fit, fit, kind of chap."

Kelly leaves behind their two young children, Theodore, eight, and Otis, five.
