Shia LaBeouf was made a laughing stock by his friends after rumours he was romancing Rihanna emerged.

The self-confessed womaniser was reported to be dating the R&B star last summer after they were spotted having an intimate dinner together in Beverly Hills.

But LaBeouf instantly denied having involved with Rihanna, who is currently said to be dating Chris Brown, insisting he hardly knew the singer.

And he admits his pals would constantly tease him about the alleged romance by singing her hit song Umbrella, even after he dismissed the rumours.

He tells GQ magazine: "My friends were like, 'Are you serious, bro? Why didn't you tell me about that?' I was like, 'I really don't know her like that.'

"For weeks they were singing that Umbrella song everywhere I walked. And those are my people!"
