Despite posing topless in her Vanity Fair photo shoot, Miley Cyrus has insisted that covering up is best when it comes to fashion.

The Hannah Montana star provoked much controversy after images of her bare-backed with just a satin sheet covering her made headlines last week, but 15-year Miley explained what her ideal choice of attire actually is.

She says: "All the clothes - all the short skirts and all that stuff - my mom would never in a million years let me leave the house like that.

"So I think that a really cool thing that everyone's doing now is layering, just to keep yourself modest and cute.

"My aunt got me a shirt that says, 'Modest is Hottest' which is totally true."

Maybe Justin Timberlake can lend her a shirt.
