Paula Abdul Pokes Fun At Her American Idol Mistake

Paula Abdul poked fun at her embarrassing American Idol blunder when she appeared at the Lupus L.A. 2008 Orange Ball telling the crowd “no one understands me. By the way are you singing two songs tonight?”

The judge somehow managed to make a right mess of things on Tuesday night’s show, criticising finalist David Cook for a song he had yet to sing, causing some to accuse of her being drunk on air.

However, she has taken it all it her stride. Speaking to reporters after pleasing the crowd, Abdul said: “I have fun poking fun at a situation that is so ridiculous and I love that people laughed.”

As for actual blunder, she told OK!: “It was a silly thing. I did exactly what production told me to do. We were all confused as judges. We weren’t told until it was live. They kept changing it.”

Despite the confusion, fans have been more than forthcoming in their support for the Straight Up singer’s mistake. “I’m overwhelmed and I’m beyond happy,” she gushes. “I appreciate people for understanding and coming to my defence.”
