Star Jones decided to divorce from husband Al Reynolds because she felt lonely and neglected as he focused on his own career and independence.

The 46-year old met Al at a record release party for Alicia Keys and soon got married, but everything started falling apart after Star’s career took a turn for the worst.

Al gave up his job in banking to become the manager of his wife following her axe from The View. However, their marriage really took a dive after the flop of her new TruTV show.

A friend of Star’s tells In Touch: “His desire to focus on his own career caused them to grow apart. Al acted as her manager during her time at TruTV. And when her show was canceled, he became restless.”

The 37-year old began writing a book on finance and began teaching at Florida Memorial University in Miami, causing Star to doubt their relationship.

“They started having a commuter relationship and she began to feel abandoned,” the friend adds. “The romance just faded away and she recognized that it was best to end it.”

Al’s mother Ada revealed that it was Star who made the final call. She said: “He is so hurt and so sad. He did not want this divorce at all. He wanted to stay married. I think Star wanted the divorce, not Al.”
