David Blaine will hold his breath under water for more than 16 minutes and 14 seconds in an attempt to break the world record, and in anticipation for this extraordinary feat he has released some footage of his preparation.

The illusionist, whose past stunts have included freezing himself in a block of ice, being suspended in a box above the River Thames and eating broken glass, will appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show tomorrow to perform his underwater task.
