Gavin & Stacey, Harry Hill and Bruce Forsythe were the big winners at last night’s Bafta TV Awards.
James Cordon, who plays chubster Smithy in quirky BBC3 sitcom Gavin & Stacey, revealed his delight at winning both best comedy performance as well as the Sky + Audience award.
Huge-collared Harry Hill also won two gongs for best entertainment performance and best entertainment programme.
However, it was 80-year old Brucie who receieved the biggest accolade on the night, the Academy Fellowship.
Unlike the unkind judges on his show Strictly Come Dancing, Bafta bigwigs hailed him as the “ultimate all-round entertainer”.
Forsythe was given a standing ovation by the 1,600-strong crowd at the London Palladium and quipped: “Wow — and I haven’t had to do my act. That is quite overwhelming. When you all stood up I thought you were going.”
He added: “This is as good as it gets. Thanks you so much for the wonderful honour.”
