Cameron Diaz's father has passed away suddenly following a battle with pneumonia, it's emerged.

58-year-old Emilio Diaz - who had a bit part in his daughter's 1998 flick There's Something About Mary -  recently developed the flu which then turned into pneumonia.

Production has been halted on Cam's current movie project, My Sister's Keeper, according to TMZ.

Her rep is yet to comment on the sad news.
