Mark Speight 'Was Funniest Man I've Ever Known'

Mark Speight 'Was Funniest Man I've Ever Known'

Tributes have been pouring in for Mark Speight, the most revealing from his SMart co-presenter Kirsten O’Brien.

Having worked with the 42-year old on the BBC children’s art show, O’Brien described her friend of 12 years “without doubt the funniest man I’ve ever known.”

“Filming days were a joy as Mark would often have the crew and I doubled up with laughter and I think that showed on screen.

“As well as his fantastic art skills, Mark had a childlike enthusiasm for life which is what made him such a hit with young viewers.

“As a friend, Mark was gifted with making people laugh, he lifted your spirits, and his sense of the ridiculous was a delight.

She added to the Sun: “I’m proud to have had Mark in my life and am devastated at losing him in such a terrible way. All of his friends will miss him deeply.

“Mark could find light in the darkest situations for others. I’m only sorry he couldn’t find it for himself. My thoughts are with his family.”

  • I am so sad to hear about the death of Mark, he has been one of my favourite, if not my favourite presenters i have ever come across. I have grown up wathcing him on television, admiring and looking up to him. He always appeared to have such an amazing vibe and sense of life about him. He was a gorgeous man, who will be truley missed. My prayers and wishes go out to all his family, friends and fans.

  • I can't believe that Mark speight is dead. He always seemed so happy and jolly. He was truely talented at art and he seemed generally a very nice man. It's such a shame what he did. I grew up a budding artist && i never used to miss smart. I never would have imagined he would do this. Well life you suprise me once again. Were all going to miss you Mark, all over the world R.I.P x

  • Iwas devastated to hear the news of Marks death. SMart will not be the same without him. He came across as such a caring ad sensitive human being. He had a great sense of humour and made the show very entertaining. Mark had such alot more to give, and I feel we all have been robbed of an exceptional talent. My heart goes out to Marks family and friends. I hope they take comfort from the fact that Mark was such an inspiration to kids the world over. we will miss you.
