Penelope Cruz and her Oscar-winning boyfriend Javier Bardem are to marry later this year, according to reports.

Bardem is alleged to have proposed during a recent romantic vacation in France, and the couple is already busy planning a wedding, sources tell the National Enquirer.

The pair began dating last year after shooting Woody Allen movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona in their native Spain together.

Friends claim Bardem's mother Pilar encouraged the No Country For Old Men Academy Award winner to make the relationship official.

A pal tells the tabloid: "Pilar took her son aside and told him, 'What's the matter with you? She's perfect! You love her, she loves you. Get married.'"
