Bobby Brown suggests in a new autobiography that ex-wife Whitney Houston is responsible for his descent into drink and drug addition.
The former New Edition singer – who claims to have lived in his car after his 15-year-marriage broke down – happily lays the blame for his destructive lifestyle on Houston in Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But.
He writes: "I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney. Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice.
"At one point in my life, I used drugs uncontrollably. I was using everything I could get my hands on, from cocaine to heroin, weed and cooked cocaine."
As far as the marriage itself was concerned, he says he knew it "was doomed from the very beginning.”
He explains: “Within the first year we separated, with several more to follow. I think we got married for all the wrong reasons. Now, I realize Whitney had a different agenda than I did when we got married...I believe her agenda was to clean up her image, while mine was to be loved and have children."
According to Brown, Houston saw marriage and kids as the only way to dispell persistent rumours she was in a lesbian relationship with her assistant, Robin Crawford.
Brown does, however, admit to adding to their problems by being unfaithful - although he puts this down to "being human" and an excess of male hormones.
