Brangelina Wedding Rumours: The Latest

More has emerged about the source of those false Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie wedding rumours that ran amok on the net at the weekend.

Star magazine reported that the pair had exchanged vows on Saturday at the French Quarter Chapel in New Orleans, but later retracted the claims.

The chapel's Reverend Anthony Talavera insisted to rival mag OK!: "Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were not married in our chapel, period.  I’ve never even met them."

OK! have done some further digging and believe they may have identified the unwitting source of the rumours - a couple who had a lavish wedding ceremony at another New Orleans venue - St. Louis Cathedral - on Saturday.

The magazine examines the evidence:

"The word around this part of town was that this wedding was costing in the $500,000 range — just the amount of money one would expect celebs of Brad and Angelina's prominence and wealth to spend.

Additionally, an employee at Muriel's restaurant, directly across the street from the cathedral told OK! she'd seen police barricades outside the church and that the caravan of cars leaving the ceremony received a police escort. Again, just what one would expect from the wedding of two of Hollywood's biggest names."

However, It turns out these were no A-list nuptials but the wedding of a prominent - but non-famous - New Orleans family.

As for whether Brangelina will take advantage of this false alarm and get hitched while everyone's head is turned - watch this space!
