Madonna To Remake Casablanca... In Iraq

Madonna is hoping to remake classic movie Casablanca, but update it for a modern-day audience by setting it in Iraq.

The triple Oscar-winning flick is regarded as one of the best films ever made, frequently topping greatest movie polls and hosting a heap of memorable quotes from the script such as "Here's looking at you, kid."

However, the Hung Up singer wishes to improve the original and has already approached producers with her idea.A source at a major Hollywood studio tells the Daily Mail: "She is still determined to make it in the movies.

"She and her representatives have been touting around a project which is a remake of Casablanca. The reception has been lukewarm to say the least. No one can understand why she wants to redo what many people consider the greatest film of all time."

The source added: "Madonna is talking about taking the Ingrid Bergman role for herself, even though Bergman was in her 20s when she played Ilsa and Madonna is nearly 50.

"She wants to update the story and maybe set it in a modern war zone such as Iraq. There is no script yet.

"Madonna and her people are testing the waters to see if this is the right vehicle for her and if a major studio will get behind the project."

Do you think Madonna should re-make Casablanca? Should it be set in Iraq? Be sure to leave your comments below.

  • You've got to be kidding me. I am one of the biggest fans of classic movies. It would be a cold day in hell before Madonna does a movie of this calibre. Please listen to my words. She is no actress and she sure as hell is no Ingrid Bergman. If she thinks she can act she must be in la la land. Madonna go get some acting lessons before you attempt to act for this classic movie. If you dream about this part keep dreaming.

  • "Do you think Madonna should re-make Casablanca?" Is this a serious question? This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Of course not!

  • Madonna could reprise the Viktor Laslo role of Paul Heinried, as a tattooed Berber Chieftess with a medical degree, striving to bring civil autonomy and reproductive health services to the bedouin women of the Atlas mountains. She and her much younger husband(Jake Gyllenthal) would vie for the love of Cafe Americain owner Rick(Bill Murray). Sam the piano player would, of course, be played by the Rock, in drag, tragically caught up in a transgender identity crisis.
