Madonna has issued a rallying call in support of troubled Britney Spears - she wants us to “go save her!”

Speaking in a new radio interview, the singer - who famously snogged Britney live on stage at the MTV Awards - spoke out in support of her fellow pop star.

She told ‘Yo on E!’, “For real… let's go save her," adding that she thought it was time for the media to leave Spears alone.

“They need to step off," she explained.

Madonna also revealed that her 11-year-old daughter Lourdes has also expressed concern for Spears following her much publicised problems.

“She knows Britney, (but) she doesn't really watch TV or read gossip stuff. I think she sort of gets the drift of what's going on, and I think she feels very protective of Britney," she explained.
