The father of Guy Ritchie has dispelled rumours that his son’s marriage to Madonna is at breaking point.

John Ritchie insisted he was shocked by reports claiming the movie director and the music superstar are on the verge of splitting after Guy failed to attend her Hall Of Fame ceremony.

He says: "They're happy. I was shocked when I read they were supposed to have been having problems. They've been running around different places. That's why they haven't been seen together."

Rumours that the Hung Up singer is to quit Britain and move back to her native U.S. were also quashed by John.
 
He added: "She won't be going out to America to live for good. They've got lovely places here (in Britain)."
