Prosecutors refused to drop driving charges against Britney Spears at a court hearing on Thursday.
The troubled singer’s lawyers tried to dismiss charges of driving without a licence, which relate to an incident in California's San Fernando Valley last year.
Charlie Unger told the hearing Britney, “seems to be getting her life together. She has nothing on her record other than the infraction-type tickets we all get.”
However, prosecutor Michael Amerian countered that continuing the case would be "the fairest way to treat her”, insisting he would not be “affected by her celebrity status".
Hit and run charges lodged after the incident in August, when Britney was filmed driving off after scraping a parked car, were dismissed a couple of months later after Britney apologised nd paid compensation to the vehicle’s owner
