George Clooney is reportedly preparing for a new role - as godfather to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's child.

The pregnant actress is said to be convinced that her long-time pal George is the ideal candidate for the part of godparent.

"Nicole asked George to be her baby's godfather and he said 'yes'," a source tells The Mirror.

"They are great friends and she can think of no one more perfect for the job."

Sly Nicole is probably hoping that her pal catches the broody bug - she stands to cash-in if 46-year-old George has kids by the age of 50, thanks to a longstanding bet between the pair.
