Jackass star Steve-O has been hospitalized after threatening to take his own life, it’s claimed.
Insiders say the troubled prankster was taken to the emergency room at L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Sunday afternoon after e-mailing suicide notes to friends.
Following drug tests, he was checked into the Thalians Mental Health Centre where he was put on a 72-hour hold, which has since been extended to 14 days.
"Steve is stabilized on meds at this point," the source tells U.S magazine, Star. "He was also treated for burns on his skin as if he had been putting cigarettes out on his own body."
Friends and family have reportedly become increasingly concerned about the star's mental state, especially following his arrest earlier this month over a dispute with a neighbor.
One claims that Steve-O - real name Stephen Glover - is suffering from untreated bipolar disorder.
"Right now he's in his extreme mania," the family member told Star. "His concerned friends and family are hoping he'll seek treatment. He doesn't need jail, he needs therapy.
“We're just really hoping that this will be the wake-up call that gets him back to himself."
Steve-O was busted on March 3 after smashingholes in the walls of his Hollywood apartment complex - which, handily for the cops, he filmed.
He has been charged with felony possession of cocaine after the controlled substance was found during his arrest.
