A Los Angeles judge has ruled that Britney Spears should be given a $1,500 (£750) allowance every week to spend however she pleases.

At a Spears estate conservatorship hearing yesterday, Superior Court Commisioner Reva Goetz set the singer a spending limit, giving her access to the money via a debit card.

The pop wreck’s father Jamie Spears used his position as court-appointed lawyer to fight for the allowance, believing that it would give his daughter more freedom.

His attorney, Geraldine Wyle, told the court the allowance would allow Britney to "spend money, have her freedom, and make choices about how she wants to enjoy her life". 

Meanwhile, despite being advised to attend the hearing, Britney decided to skip court, explaining to reporters that she objected to elements of the hearing.

What will Britney spend her $1,500 on each week? Hopefully some underwear.
