Sunday’s Oscar event featured a montage sequence of stars that had died in the past year. One person who was noticeably absent from the sequence was Brad Renfro, causing people to speculate that the Academy purposely snubbed him.
Renfro, who starred in movies such as The Client, Apt Pupil and Sleepers, was found dead from a drug overdose in Los Angeles in January (08), aged just 25.
However, he did not make it on the list of 98 movie industry people which comprised of everyone from actors and directors to public relations people.
A statement from the Motion Picture Academy of America claims: "It is simply not possible to include everyone in that segment."
An irate friend of the late star tells TMZ: "It's unbelievable and disgusting."
