Cher has confirmed reports that she once dated Tom Cruise.

The 61-year-old happily admitted to Good Morning America host Cynthia McFadden that Tom was her toy-boy back in the 80s when he was "just the most adorable man you can imagine."

Despite this, Tom apparently failed to impress Cher’s son, Elijah Allman, who has publicly slammed the actor.

He told Us Weekly in 2006: "He was totally different. We lived with him for a couple of years.

"(Now) he shouldn't be trying to help his career by talking about his personal life. People aren't buying into his whole act."

Cher - who announced her retirement from touring in 2005 - will star in a song-and-dance spectacular starting in May at the  Colosseum in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.
