Heath Ledger's death has been ruled accidental by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner for the City of New York.
"Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine," said Ellen Borakove, a spokesperson for the office.
"We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications," read the two-paragraph statement.
The Brokeback Mountain star was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on January 22.
Numerous anti-anxiety medications and sleeping pills were found in the 28-year-old actor’s bedroom and bathroom, an unnamed police source told the Associated Press.
An initial autopsy was deemed inconclusive on January 24.
Ledger is due to be buried in Perth Australia on Saturday.
