Two U.S entertainment shows have ditched plans to air video of Health Ledger at a drug-fuelled party.

Entertainment Tonight and The Insider had secured the rights to footage of an apparently under-the-influence Heath, thought to have been taken in 2006 at infamous L.A. celebrity haunt, the Chateau Marmont.

In the clip – described as "explosive" and "shocking" – the actor is allegedly heard saying "I'm gonna get so much shit from my girlfriend" as other party-goers take drugs around him.

When asked why, the actor replys: "We have a baby together...Matilda, Matilda Rose."

Both ET and The Insider have now dropped the planned segment from their respective shows, following pressure from Heath’s representatives.

Celebrity PR firm ID Public Relations released a statement on Wednesday, condemning the Paramount-produced TV shows for buying the two-year old video "in the hopes of stirring up a salacious and exploitive story about Heath, which would win them big ratings on the first day of sweeps."

ID partner Mara Buxbaum further told EW.com that "those who knew Heath know he was a kind-hearted, immensely talented artist, and a devoted father. He tried to live his life quietly and with humility.

"Certain media outlets' attempts to exploit and profit from his death is shameful and in the poorest of taste. We implore the media and the public to let this grieving family bury their son in private and with dignity."
