Watts Attends Memorial, Ledger Australia Bound

Naomi Watts was amongst the celebrities who joined Heath Ledger’s family for a private memorial service in L.A. following the actors shock death last week. 

The intimate service took place at the Westwood Village Memorial Park – lasting just 30-minutes.

According to an Australian news network, Watts – who dated Ledger for two-years after meeting on the 2002 set of Ned Kelly – was “visibly upset. “

Just hours before the short-service - 1,000 guests attended the G'Day USA Australia Day Ball in New York and listened to a touching message from Ledger’s father, Kim.

"Heath is and always will be an Australian," said the letter read by Australia's consul-general.

"Heath did not become an actor for the fame or fortune," the tibute continued. "He loved his craft and he loved helping his friends. He loved chess and skateboarding too. My image of Heath in New York is him with his skateboard, a canvas bag and his beanie. That was Heath to me."

The Dark Knight star was found dead in his New York apartment last Tuesday.


Perth Bound - Heath Ledger's body is transferred from the funeral home to Los Angeles where an intimate memorial was held.

An autopsy carried out last Wednesday was deemed inconclusive - however new reports suggest the actors death could have been a result of natural causes.

According to several Australian news outlets, a memorial and burial in Ledger's hometown of Perth are also expected.
