They want to go it alone...

McFly To Quit Label To Escape Boyband Tag

McFly will quit their record label after their next album in an attempt to escape their boy band tag.

The four lads are said to have grown tired of their pop career - which has served them up an impressive seven number one singles as well as two number one album - so are determined to quit Island records.

They are currently recording a new album in Australia, which will mark the end of their deal with the label.

A source tells The Sun, “The boys feel they have outgrown the company. Label chiefs have plans for them they disagree with. They are tired of being a boy band.

“They want to be recognised for their song-writing and being more than just a teen act. The time in Australia has given them a chance to put together their battle plan.

“They are all really excited about the idea of being free to make their own decisions about their future.”

Not to mention getting bigger royalty cheques, no doubt.
