Michelle Williams, ex-fiancée of Heath Ledger, is said to be on her way to New York from Sweden following the shock death of the actor.
The Brokeback Mountain star – who shares 2-year-old daughter, Matilda Rose, with Ledger – is said to be “devastated” following the news of his abrupt passing.
Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment, on Tuesday night. Early reports suggest his death may have been the result of a drugs overdose.
"She's devastated," a source close to the 27-year-old reveals to People.com.
Despite ending their three-year relationship in November 2007 , the pair both agreed that healthy parenting was a priority in their lives.
"He was absolutely in love with his daughter," adds another source. "And he really liked what he did [acting]. He spoiled [Matilda] rotten. He was playful and very funny with her."
"I can't believe Matilda is going to grow up without a dad, without knowing her father. And that Michelle will have to deal with having a daughter who's lost her father. She's a survivor. She'll make it, but it's going to be hard. Her first concern is going to be Matilda."
According to TMZ.com, yet-another source revealed that "words cannot describe" the pain Williams is in following the news.
The actress is said to be heading to New York immediately.
