Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds have split after just two weeks of non-marriage, it’s been confirmed.
Eddie and Tracey got ‘hitched’ on New Year’s Day on a private island near Bora Bora in French Polynesia.
But the marriage didn't count because only residents can legally get married on the island.
The couple said at the time that they were planning a legally binding ceremony upon returning to the U.S – but this never happened.
The Norbit actor's rep issued the following statement yesterday (January 16):
“After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forego having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further. While the recent symbolic union in Bora Bora was representative of our deep love, friendship and respect that we have for one another on a spiritual level, we have decided to remain friends.”
‘Sources’ tells quite a different story.
A wedding guest tells People magazine: "Eddie started yelling at Tracey in front of people. He did it on a few occasions and it was very embarrassing."
And the pair reportedly had another huge bust up just two days ago.
“It was ugly,” a friend tells Life & Style. "They never officially moved in together and apparently never had a civil ceremony."
