Actor Brad Renfro has been found dead at the age of 25.
Whilst, the cause of the young star’s untimely death is as yet unknown, Renfro is well known for his battle against addictions to drink and drugs in the past.
A Los Angeles County coroner's spokesman said: "He was found unresponsive in a residence. Paramedics responded and he was pronounced dead."
The former child star made his movie debut aged 12, with a central role in 1994 mafia drama The Client.
He later went on to appear in films including Sleepers, and later, controversial teen drama, Bully.
Renfro’s troubled private life, which included a number of run-ins with the law, has been well-publicised.
In 1998, he was charged with posessing cocaine and marijuana but avoided jail time with a plea bargain.
In January 2001, he was put on probation and ordered to pay $4,000 (£2,000) after allegedly attempting to steal a 45-foot yacht.
Later that year, he was arrested for under-age drinking, violating his probation, and was ordered to undergo alcohol rehabilitation.
In 2005, he spent 10 days in jail and began 18 months of alcohol education classes, after being charged with driving under the influence and with two counts of driving with a suspended licence.
The same year, he was charged with attempting to possess heroin and ordered into a drug rehabilitation programme.
At the time of his death, Renfro had just finished filming The Informers - an adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel - alongside Winona Ryder and Billy Bob Thornton.
