Strictly Come Dancing winner Alesha Dixon is flying to Thailand to try and rebuild her relationship with her estranged Dad.

The singer, 29, will spend time with her father Melvin on her way to work in Japan, despite the electrician living abroad and hardly seeing Alesha since she was four.

She tells The People, "I'm going to go and see my dad later this month. We're going to have four days together. There is nothing more important to me than my friends and family.

"My dad moved to Thailand, I didn't want him to but he loves the country so he left anyway and he has been there ever since.

"I hope that we get close, it's an ideal opportunity because I am going to Japan for work so it's on the way."
