Despite being 'hot favourite' for the role, it’s unlikely that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter Suri will be voicing German polar bear Knut anytime soon - because she is still learning to speak.
Suri was mooted for the role of the one-year-old bear - who became a national icon in Germany after he was rejected by his mother at Berlin Zoo - in a planned animated film of his life
Producer Ash R. Shah of The Animation Picture Company said earlier this week: "I see the heart warming relationship between Knut and his caretaker, Thomas Doerflein at the centre of the movie. I want Suri Cruise to be the English voice of Knut."
However, a Cruise family friend has pointed out that learning a script may be a little out of Suri's grasp given that – like most 20-month-old tots - "she doesn't even speak in full sentences yet".
A rep for the Cruise family confirmed that their daughter would not be taking on Hollywood just yet, insisting, “Tom and Katie have no plans for Suri to begin an acting career.”
