Presenter Mark Speight Denies Involvement In Girlfriend's Death

BBC children's presenter Mark Speight has released a statement denying any involvement in his girlfriend’s death.

As Entertainmentwise reported earlier today, Speight was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of murdering live-in fiancée Natasha Collins, whose body was found in the bath at their London flat.

Speight – who has hosted CBBC show Smart since 1995 – is “distraught’ over following the sudden death of fiancee, according to a statement released on his behalf.

"Mark has been questioned by the police on account of the fact that the body of his fiancee was found in the flat they shared," reads the statement.

"At the moment no one knows what happened. Mark found her body in the bathroom and immediately called an ambulance and the police.

"Mark was the only other person present in the flat and has therefore been questioned by police as a matter of course."

The death is currently being treated as "unexplained", a police spokesman said.

Speight has been bailed until the first week of February on suspicion of murder and supplying cocaine.
