Only yesterday we shared our quiet word in Mischa Barton’s shell-like with you, following her arrest on DUI charges this week.

“Mishca,” we said, “You’ve got out on bail for New Year’s – unlike Joey Barton – but we all know you’ve been a naughty girl, so we think it would be good form all round to see in 2008 without the booze and the drugs this time (allegedly).”

Mishca’s perky little lobes pricked up and today we can happily tell you The OC actress has sagely decided to cancel her planned appearance at The Luxor nightclub in Las Vegas, which she was due to open.

“I'm going back to New York to see my parents instead," she said (via the Sunday Mirror, natch).

Good call sister – if only your fellow party girls could also realise that sometimes discretion is the better part of valour.
