Lauren Conrad Admits The Hills Is Fake

The Hills star Lauren Conrad has admitted that she sometimes re-enacts scenes for the ‘reality’ TV show when the juicy stuff happens off-camera.

Lauren confirmed the obvious when she attempted to explain away “nail-polish-gate” – when her red nail polish disappeared during scenes supposedly shot in one night - in a recent interview.

Conrad reveals that a phone call with with Brody Jenner had to be shot the following day, because the cameras didn't catch the “real” phone call.

“Anyone who has worked on a reality show knows how they’re filmed,” says LC.

“I basically had to go and call [Brody] again, have the exact same conversation on camera. I mean, it’s not lying to anyone, it’s telling what really happened, but it’s just the way they film reality shows.”

Lauren stresses that the re-enactments are only necessary when MTV has missed the real-life action but thinks it will make good TV – and that the second takes always stay true to the characters’ real lives.

“Basically what they’re doing is taking our lives and telling a story,” she says. “They’re telling exactly what happened.”

She adds that MTV has also staged bust-ups between herself and Heidi Montag.

“But they only set that up because it was happening off-camera,” she says.

“We were getting into these situations where we were running into [Heidi and Spencer], and [MTV] kept missing them.”
