Britney Spears continued her downward spiral yesterday when she emerged from her Hollywood house hunting binge looking extremely distraught. 

The Toxic singer, who was shown an array of plush properties in Beverly Hills, was seen clutching a religious book as she viewed property after property.

The now 26-year-old – who is embroiled in a bitter custody battle with ex Kevin Federline – was later snapped leaving the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills sporting her notorious pink locks and looking notably distressed.

Just yesterday legal documents revealed that Los Angeles' Department of Children and Family Services are concerned about the singer's parenting skills.

The document reads, "Based on its investigation to date, it should be noted that DCFS has concerns of its own regarding the safety and welfare of the children if the children are left in the mother's care."
