Amy Winehouse's dad has reportedly warded off fellow singer Pete Doherty from his troubled daughter with an old fashioned clip round the lug-hole.

Mitch Winehouse apparently "whacked" following a one-sided argument with the Babyshambles singer, warning him to stay away from the 23-year-old.

Doherty has been in particularly close contact with Winehouse since her husband was remanded in custody last month - no doubt lending her his particular insight into the penal system.

A witness reports to The Sun, "He told him to leave Amy alone, saying that he was the last person she needs at moment.

“Pete was smirking until Mitch turned and whacked him.”

Yet another hit for Mr Doherty, then.
