Donda West, the mother of hip-hop superstar Kanye, has been laid to rest during a private funeral ceremony in Oklahoma City.

Fans of her son lined the streets to catch a glimpse of those who attended the service which took place at the True Vine Ministries Church in the suburb of Spencer.

The media and public were not allowed into the service but attendees including Kanye plus friends Jay-Z and Beyonce were spotted arriving.

According to the Chicago Tribune her father, civil rights leader Portwood Williams Sr., paid tribute to his “one in a million daughter”.

He said: "We were real close—very close. She was just No. 1. One in a million. We have four children, and I've never heard them have an argument with each other. She was just a No. 1 person.”

After the service Donda’s casket was placed onto a horse drawn carriage (see pictures here) and taken to a nearby cemetery.
