Director Wes Anderson is fuming at suggestions that the experiences of Owen Wilson’s character in new movie The Darjeeling Limited mirror his real-life suicide attempt.
Wes has hit back at film critics who have likened Owen’s fictional character to his personal life on the basis that both are recovering from failed suicide attempts.
He says: "The fact is that Owen's - what do we call it? - experience over the past few months cannot be connected to this film in any way.
"The whole thing is just beyond bad timing. But that character is not based on Owen. People just say, 'Oh, this character tried to kill himself and look, there's Owen Wilson in real life.'"
The Wedding Crashers star is making tentative steps back into the limelight, following his suicide bid in August when he was rushed to hospital after slashing his wrists at his home in Santa Monica, California.
