Transformers star Shia LaBeouf has been arrested and charged with trespassing after refusing to leave a drug store in Chicago. 

The 21-year-old was confronted by a security guard at a Walgreens branch who asked the actor to leave because he seemed to be drunk. 

According to a police spokeswoman Laura Kubiak, LaBeouf – who was not breathalysed as he had not been driving - was "very courteous and polite" during the incident.

He is due to appear in Cook County court on 28 November where he will face a charge of misdemeanour criminal trespassing.
