Da Brat Charged With Aggravated Assault

Rapper Da Brat has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault following a nightclub dispute with a cocktail waitress. 

According to Mekka Parish, a spokeswoman for DeKalb County Police, law enforcement officers responded to a call at Studio 72, at 1:20 a.m after Da Brat - whose real name is Shawntae Harris - hit a cocktail waitress on the head with a rum bottle following a heated exchange.

Witnesses at the club told investigators that the waitress "accidentally bumped" Harris in the VIP section of the lounge and the pair "engaged in a little scuffle of some pushing and arguing.”

"The waitress walked away, and moments later Da Brat hit her in the face with a rum bottle," said Parish.

The waitress was later taken to hospital by a friend after suffering a deep laceration to the cheek and some swelling on the forehead.

Harris was taken into custody by police at the scene, where she remains in jail on a charge of felony aggravated assault.

Harris is best known for her appeared on VH1 reality shows Celebrity Fit Club and The Surreal Life.
