The misdemeanor charge of hit-and-run against Britney Spears was dropped yesterday in a hearing at a Van Nuys, California court.
The charge related to the incident on August 6 when – in full view of the paparazzi – Brit pranged a parked 1999 Mercedes-Benz station wagon belonging to Kim Robard-Rifkin in a San Fernando Valley parking lot.
The court’s decision to dismiss the hit-and-run charge was in light of the pop wreck’s payment of approximately $1,000 to Robard-Rifkin for damage to her vehicle.
Flanagan insists that Robard-Rifkin "is very sympathetic toward Britney and hopes the best for her."
The singer – who was a no-show in court - also pleaded not guilty through Flanagan to another charge of driving without a valid California driver's license.
Although she now has a valid license, the L.A. City Attorney reportedly still wants to slap the singer with a 12-month probation term and fine.
Brit must now appear in court on November 26 regarding the license issue.
