Leonardo DiCaprio is reportedly planning to build a ‘green hotel’ on his 104 acre island off the coast of Belize.

Leo snapped up the island - called Blackadore Cay - a few years ago and is said to be partnering with the owners of the Four Seasons Resorts chain to create the eco-resort.

New York gossip columnist Liz Smith reports that work on the ground-breaking new hotel will begin in 2008 but don’t start planning your Caribbean getaway there just yet – it's expected that Leo's environmentally-friendly holidays will come with a hefty price tag.

The actor/environmentalist is a leading celebrity voice in the campaign to raise awareness of global warming - and shied away from giving his opinion of George W Bush’s environmental record.

He recently told reporters at a news conference in Los Angeles to promote his new documentary, The 11th Hour:

"I think if you asked any environmentalist about George Bush's policies on the environment he gets quite close to a 'D' or an 'F',"
