Troubled popstar Britney Spears has now become "utterly obsessed" with the late Princess Diana, according to friends.

The singer has apparently taken to calling herself Diana Prince, and has made a shrine to the tragic British royal in her Malibu home which she now wants to add the dress Diana married Prince Charles in.

A pal tells the News Of The World, "She's utterly obsessed with Princess Diana. We're worried about it.
 
"She's turned one of the rooms in her house into a shrine to Di - there's photos, books and cheap souvenirs everywhere.

"Britney has told people she truly believes she and Diana share the same path, the same destiny! She's taken to surrounding herself with anything connected with the princess.

"People close to Britney think it's weird but no one dares tell her as she is so vulnerable right now. Anything could tip her over the edge.  We're all very worried as her behaviour is getting weirder by the day."
