A crew member on the Surrey set of the forthcoming Batman movie was killed after the 4x4 he was riding in crashed into a tree.
The tragic incident occurred at the two-mile MoD Quinetiq racetrack as the special effects expert was filming the Batmobile while following it on a track.
Police and an ambulance were called but the man – believed to be a married father of two – was pronounced dead at the scene.
Batman: The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader, is set for release in the UK in July 2008.
Police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating.
