Pictures of Oscar De La Hoya dressed in women’s lingerie and posing provactively have hit the internet.
The photos of the champion fighter first appeared on website X17online.com and have since been subject to much speculation – are they real or not?
According to Oscar De La Hoya's attorney, Bertram Fields, the pictures of the boxer circulating the internet today are fake.
In a statement released to US Magazine, Fields claims: "The photographs depicting Mr. De La Hoya's image that were posted online today by an obscure paparazzi website are fake. Many of the website's viewers (as reflected in postings on the site) identified the photos as a 'really bad photoshop job.' Unfortunately, with today's technology, anyone can make any photo seem like something other than it is."
He adds: "Mr. De La Hoya has become one of the most recognizable faces in America, not only for his achievements in the boxing ring, but also for his charitable work in developing hospital facilities and schools in the East Los Angeles neighborhood where he grew up. It is regrettable that the price of fame that comes to Mr. De La Hoya and others carries with it the possibility that outsiders will nevertheless seek to exploit that fame for their own profit."
De La Hoya’s high powered legal team have also written to X17online.com and demanded that the images be taken down.
According to US Magazine the letter reads: "We are aware that you have posted on your website X-17 Online.com today certain photographs which you purport depict Mr. De La Hoya...the images are not newsworthy...As you know, Mr. De La Hoya has never consented to your use of his image for any purpose. Accordingly, demand is made that you immediately take down these images, withdraw them from your website, and make no further use of them."
X17 have since posted a note on their website in response to La Hoya's demands.
“Regarding the possibly [sic] Photoshopping of the images -- NOPE! -- we got a letter for Oscar's lawyer today and while they'd love us to take down the pix, they don't seem to dispute their authenticity!”
Entertainmentwise has since had the photo’s assessed by a Photoshop expert who claims the snaps have not been doctored in any way.
