Westlife are planning to release their new album on the same day as the Spice Girls? comeback.

The Irish quartet want to reignite their own rivalry with the girls to create as much hype as possible around their own release.

A source tells The People, ?They've pencilled in a release date for later this year but will move it depending on what the girls do.

"They think it will be a good marketing ploy to recreate the great battle of 2000 and are sure they will get the Number One spot."

Not really the Rolling Stones vs. The Beatles or Blur vs. Oasis, is it?

  • How pathetic! Westlife are a load of crap who have spent the past few years doing nothing but covers, the Spcie Girls have had success with totally original music! And why bother stealing the Spcie Girls thunder? Can't the just live in the past with their second album which was prehaps the last good thing the 4 irish ponces ever did!

  • Go Westlife!!! I just don't get it are Spice Girls jelaous of all the popular band now??? Cause why do they split up and then come back?? Is there any point in that?? Westlife have been together for 8 years and they are still as popular as they have ever been.. I myself loved Spice Girls and was really upset when they splitted. And now that Spice Girls are coming back im not going to like them like i did before.

  • Westlife are sooo pathetic, i mean no one even mentions them anymore and they are sooo desperate to do a come back that there using the spice girls popularity, so sad!! Hope that they get beat, there albums are always rubbish!! Spice girls will beat them and hopefully they will fade away, i mean they may have had more number ones but have anyof their records sold over 300,00 like each spice girl hits!!
