Fans of the robots in disguise will be pleased to hear that director Michael Bay is keen on returning to direct a sequel to the hugely successful Transformers movie.
Despite not being a fan before taking on the project, Bay now refers to the film as his baby and says he has a good idea of what to do with the sequel.
The film is looking to take Spider-man 3s crown as the box office hit of the summer, as fans turned up in their droves to see the film.
Critical reaction has been mixed, but all agree the film is visually spectacular.
Bay used a number of tactics to bring the movie in on a tight budget ($150 million for an effects-heavy movie), such as recycling shots from his other films and only using General Motors cars for the movies, instead of developing their own concept cars (a measure which Bay claimed saved then over $3million).
On the subject of a sequel, Bay told EW.com: I've got a lot of ideas for the next one. There's a lot of really cool, big robot stuff that I had in my head that we didn't do.
I just want to see how this works. You might not grow as much as a director [to do a sequel]. But it's kind of like you have your baby and you don't want someone else to take it.
Any sequel is likely to be a long time coming, however, due to the amount of development needed and the impending writers strike next summer.
