Germany Fails To Ban Tom Cruise

Actor gets permission to film there...

Tom Cruise will shoot his new movie Valkyrie in Germany, where attempts to ban the production had been made due to Cruises religious beliefs.

The production companies involved claim the necessary documents have been obtained to allow filming to go ahead in the desired locations.

Permission was initially denied as the German government does not class Scientology as a religion, but as a money-making cult.

However, permission to film was granted when it was discovered that only part of the site was owned by the ministry of defense.

The others owners, The German Resistance Memorial Centre, have apparently consented and filming should progress.

The film is based on the real life Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (played by Cruise), and his co-conspirators who plotted during World War 2 to assassinate Hitler.

Cruises professional career has been dogged by controversy of late. Having been fired from his contract with Paramount, Valkyrie is the first movie Cruise will make after taking over United Artists, essentially making his own movies from now on.
