The weekend?s cinema activity produced a surprise number one - Pixar?s ?Ratatouille?, beating action movie ?Die Hard 4.0?.
Pixar?s latest was a success and a failure, depending on how you look at it.
In terms of opening weekends, ?Ratatouille? made less than ?Cars? on it?s opening, which in turn was less than ?The Incredibles?.
On the other hand a $47.2million opening is perfectly healthy considering the wealth of competition this summer.
Elsewhere, Michael Moore?s ?Sicko? enjoyed a positive limited release.
Playing in only 441 cinemas stateside, it still managed a $4.5million take at the weekend, putting it in 9th place.
This small victory may allay fears that piracy would ruin the film?s chances.
