Calista Flockhart has admitted that starting a family calmed her once ferocious ambition.

The actress long took a career break following the demise of Ally McBeal and her adoption of son Liam in 2001.
 
She tells the Daily Telegraph, "I used to be a workaholic and very ambitious. I don't know why, but it's all melted away. I have almost zero ambition. I just want to go home and be with my family.

"Motherhood changed every fibre of my being and I think I can honestly say it brought me as close as I've ever come to being really happy."

Calista recently returned to the screen in US drama series Brothers and Sisters.

Her long term partner Harrison Ford proposed to the actress in April this year.
